Alabama Finishes 12th at Callaway Collegiate Match Play

BALL GROUND, Ga. - The short-handed Alabama men's golf team fell to Pacific in the final round of the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 7,167-yard Hawk's Ridge Golf Club.
The second-seeded Crimson Tide, who was without the nation's 18th-ranked freshman Bobby Wyatt, fell to No. 12-seed Pacific in the 11th-place match. The Tigers won two matches while the Tide was able to halve the other three contests.
Alabama, who lost to East Tennessee State in Sunday's opener then rebounded to defeat Texas later in the day, fell to sixth-seeded Iowa by a score of 4-1 in Monday's consolation bracket play.
The Crimson Tide's Bud Cauley, Cory Whitsett and Trey Mullinax all earned halves for Alabama. Hunter Hamrick fell 4 and 3 in the third match to Pacific's Alex Edfort while UA's Scott Strohmeyer dropped a 1-up decision to the Tigers Dan Garcia.
Alabama returns to stroke play on March 27-29 at the Linger Longer Invitational at the Reynolds Landing Golf Club.
