Tierney Jenkins Named to the AP All-SEC First Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Senior Tierney Jenkins was one of five selected to the Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference First Team for women's basketball, which was announced on Tuesday. Jenkins is the fifth first-team honoree in program history and first since Dominique Canty in 1999.
Jenkins has had a banner senior season for Alabama where she leads the team in points (15.4 ppg), rebounds (10.7 rpg), steals (2.8 spg) and blocks (0.9 bpg). She is also second in the SEC in points, rebounds and steals and stands at No. 7 in the nation in double-doubles with 19 this season. Jenkins recorded a career-high 31 points against Auburn on Jan.2, and collected nine steals versus Florida on Feb. 13, which ties the most in a single game in Tide history. Earlier in the season, she became the third player for Alabama to rank in the top 10 in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.
Jenkins, and the rest of the Tide, will take part in the 2011 Women's National Invitation Tournament beginning on Thursday, March 17, when Alabama travels to Memphis. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
