BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - University of Alabama senior Carison Kemei has been named the Southeastern Conference Men's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The weekly honor is the second of the season for Kemei.
Kemei earned the honor after winning Saturday's Crimson Classic with an 8-kilometer time of 24:59.25 to best the 155-runner field by nearly 11 seconds. The race was his first in nearly a month due to being sidelined with minor injuries and his second individual title of the season and he has now finished either first or second in the three races he has competed in this season.
He shares the award with Florida's Mark Parrish who set a personal best at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
Kemei currently holds the sixth best 8-kilometer time in the SEC this season and will return to action on Oct. 31 at the SEC Championships in Maryville, Tenn. Last season, Kemei finished ninth in the event to earn all-SEC honors and lead the Crimson Tide to a second-place finish.
