Alabama Head Coach Wendell Hudson
Opening statement:
"Tonight we played a really good basketball team in Georgia. They are 5-0 in conference play now. We have to be able to score the basketball, and that is one of the things that is hurting us right now."
On his team's over all play:
"I thought we did a good job of taking the ball inside then kicking it out. We would have wide open looks by people that shoot the ball in practice all the time, and when they don't make them it's a hard thing to come back from."
On how his team competed at the end of the game:
"Even in the last four minutes we competed, and we had the game back down to six. We had an opportunity, and we had the ball. We had a wide-open look, and all of us were waiting for that ball to go in so we could call a timeout and get some rest to go back out there to press them. The young ladies are working hard, and I thought we played great defense."
On his team's shooting:
"If you have confidence in what you're doing, and you believe you're going to make it, then you're going to make more shots than not. If you go through a stretch where you don't make shots, you get to feeling like, `I just want to make one,' and try to make the perfect shot rather than just relaxing and letting your hands flow through the ball."
#21 Tierney Jenkins, Forward
On the difficulty in getting shots off:
"Our big problem was that they out-rebounded us on the offensive end, and we felt like we were blocking out but they were just reaching over us. Their size was definitely a factor in the game."
On being 0-6 in the SEC:
"It's pretty hard because we are a young team. We are getting our experience with the SEC and with the freshmen, but I think we are making steps in the right direction. Hopefully next game will be a better game."
On positives to take from this game:
"Georgia had a big lead on us, and we fought back. If we can just decide to play like that the whole time, then we would be doing a lot better. We just need to compete every minute of the game."
#40 Kaneisha Horn, Forward
On how early foul trouble affects the game:
"I couldn't really get it going again when I came back in after the third foul. I didn't feel good from that point on."
Georgia Head Coach Andy Landers
Opening statement:
"I'm happy. I'm pleased with our basketball team. We did two things that we felt like would assure us a win. First, we had to guard them better than they guarded us. I think we did that. The other thing was that we had to open the second half strong, and we did that too. Those were the two primary objectives. If we do those, we win the basketball game. There were a couple of things we could have improved upon, but we played really hard and I'm happy with the result."
On the opening of the second half:
"We got out in transition and made the most of some opportunities. We really did a nice job of putting some points on the board. Scoring in transition was important, I'm not sure we ever gave up more than two points that way, and I think we had eight or 10 for ourselves. The kids did start the second half very well."
On balanced scoring:
"I thought we did a good job of spreading the basketball around tonight. Jasmine (James) had those six assists and our six leading scorers were only separated by five points. Porsha Phillips made a difference in the paint tonight with 11 rebounds for us, and we out-rebounded them as a team, 47-38 which I thought was a pretty big deal. I am proud of the effort tonight and I'm satisfied with the result."
