
Women's Basketball Releases 2010-11 Schedule

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - As many as 14 games against 2010 postseason participants, including 10 against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, highlight the 2010-11 women's basketball schedule that was announced Friday by head coach Wendell Hudson.
"I believe we put together a great schedule for the upcoming season that features a lot of tournament-tested teams from the start," Hudson said. "I am excited about the makeup of our pre-conference schedule and think that is will certainly prepare us well for Southeastern Conference play."
The Crimson Tide will potentially play teams from 11 different conferences in its non-conference slate including the ACC, Atlantic Sun, Big 12, Big East, Conference USA, Mid-Eastern Athletic, Ohio Valley, Pac-10, Southern, Southland and Southwestern Athletic.
Alabama will begin the season with a home exhibition game against Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 6. The regular season gets underway the following week with the Tide hosting Tennessee State on Nov. 12 and Central Arkansas on Nov. 14. Alabama will close out its three-game home stand when it hosts North Carolina State on Nov. 17.
The first road game of the season will be in Statesboro, Ga., on Nov. 19 as the Tide will take on Georgia Southern, and then will return home to play McNeese State on Nov. 23. Alabama then heads to Freeport, Bahamas, to participate in the 2010 Junkanoo Jam. The Tide has been placed in the Freeport Division of the tournament and is set to play Arizona State, Florida State and Providence Nov. 25-27.
Alabama opens up the month of December with two home games, hosting Alabama State on Dec. 1 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 4. The Tide then heads to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks on Dec. 12. Three consecutive home games await Alabama following the road trip, as the Tide will play host to North Carolina A&T on Dec. 15, Belmont on Dec. 18, and Alabama A&M on Dec. 20. Alabama closes out the month in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Dec. 28 against Southern Mississippi.
The 16-game conference schedule begins Jan. 2 when the Tide hosts in-state rival Auburn. The rest of the month features home contests against Vanderbilt (Jan. 13), Arkansas (Jan. 16), Georgia (Jan. 20), and Kentucky (Jan. 30). Alabama will also be on the road against Tennessee (Jan. 6), LSU (Jan. 9), South Carolina (Jan. 23), Florida (Jan. 27).
February's slate kicks off with back-to-back roads games, as the Tide will be at Mississippi State on Feb. 3 and Georgia on Feb. 6. Following a bye on Feb. 10, Alabama will host Florida on Feb. 13. The rest of the month features home games against Mississippi (Feb. 20) and Mississippi State (Feb. 24), as well as road contests at Auburn (Feb. 17) and Arkansas (Feb. 27).
