TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Freshman Alexa Guarachi has been selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Singles Championships that will take place May 26-31 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.
Guarachi is the first Crimson Tide student-athlete to advance to the NCAA Singles Championships since Robin Stephenson did so in 2006. In addition, Guarachi made the 2010 Doubles Championships making her one of only three in program history to compete in both the singles and doubles competitions. She has consistently played at the No. 2 singles position for Alabama in dual match action where she went 14-1. Guarachi also saw time in the No. 1 spot grabbing a pair of wins for the Tide.
Guarachi enters postseason play ranked 58th in the nation in singles and No. 17, with partner Courtney McLane, in doubles. Most recently she was honored with All-SEC Second Team distinction and was one of five chosen for the SEC All-Freshman Team.
