Alabama Fourth After Two Rounds of Tiger/Wave Classic

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Alabama's seventh-ranked women's golf team battled high winds and difficult scoring conditions to shoot a 26-over-par 314 during the second round of the Tiger/Wave Golf Classic on the par-72, 6,132-yard English Turn Golf and Country Club layout on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide slipped back to fourth place after holding the first round lead. UA is 31-over-par 607 and six strokes back of tournament leaders Auburn and LSU (+25, 601). TCU is in third place at +27-over-par 603 with Virginia four strokes back of Alabama at 35-over -par 611.
"It was really windy today and we didn't handle it very well," Alabama head coach Mic Potter said. "It was a good experience and one that we will learn from. Now we just need to go out and put together a solid round on Sunday and try to win this tournament."
Junior Camilla Lennarth fired the Tide's low round on Saturday with a 3-over-par 75 to lead the team and sits in fifth place heading into Sunday's final round. Lennarth is 3-over 147 for the tournament after an even-par 72 in round one.
True freshman Jennifer Kirby carded a 78 and is tied for eighth place at 5-over-par 149. Brooke Pancake, who fired a 70 on Friday, shot an 80 in the second round and is tied for 10th at 6-over-par 150.
Helena Blomberg shot 80 in the second round and Rhea Nair carding an 83. Blomberg is tied for 74th and Nair is tied for 94th.
The teams will tee off for a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday for the final round of the 2010 Tiger/Wave Classic.
