TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama swimming and diving team has added transfer Stephanie Kinsey (Harrisburg, Pa.) to its 2012 roster head coach Eric McIlquham announced this week.
A high school All-American, Kinsey will join the Crimson Tide after spending a year at Clemson, which has dropped its varsity program. She will be eligible to compete immediately.
"Primarily a backstroker, Stephanie will also help us in the sprint relays and sprint events," McIlquham said. "She is an outstanding student and knows what it takes to succeed both in the pool and the classroom."
A USA Senior National Championship qualifier, Kinsey was a six-time All-State honoree. She led West Shore YMCA to the 2008 YMCA national championship and was a member of three YMCA national record setting relays.
A 2010 graduate of Trinity High School, Kinsey earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors as a senior.
