
Swimmer Devan Terry Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama swimmer Devan Terry was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.
Terry won three individual events and was part of UA's winning 400 medley relay at the Tennessee Invitational this past weekend. All three of his individual wins came on career-best times. He is currently ranked first in the SEC in the 200 breaststroke, third in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 IM. He is the league's top-ranked freshman in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. Nationally, he Louisville, Ky., native is ranked in the top-15 in the breaststroke events and 29th in the 200 IM.
Terry and his UA teammates won the Tennessee Invitational after scoring 1,191 points, more than 200 better than second-place Virginia Tech and third-place Tennessee. Alabama's men are now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in SEC competition, with wins over Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The Tide returns in action Thursday, December 2 in Columbus, Ohio, at the USA Short Course National Championships.
