TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson once again served as co-host of a packed house for the annual Nite on the Green fundraiser for the Alabama Gymnastics/DCH Breast Cancer Fund Monday evening at Indian Hills Country Club.
"Tonight was another tremendous event for this vital cause," Patterson said. "Everyone involved has worked hard to make a Nite on the Green what it is today. Everyone knows someone in their lives who has been affected by this terrible disease and the more awareness and the more money we raise, the more we can do to make a difference in the West Alabama community."
The event featured live and silent auctions, proceeds of which went to the Breast Cancer Fund. After raising $850,000 since Patterson and the DCH Foundation came together to start the fund in 2004, all involved are hoping to see the fund surpass the $1 million mark this year between the proceeds from Nite on the Green and Wednesday's Tuscaloosa Toyota/DCH Foundation Golf Classic which will also be held at Indian Hills.
"I can't say enough about the support, vision and dedication that David DeSantis and Tuscaloosa Toyota have provided in making these events such a success," Patterson said. "It has been amazing to see how many people and organizations have come together to help The Power of Pink and the DCH Breast Cancer Fund grow."
The DCH Breast Cancer Fund's purpose is to promote awareness and provide educational programs on prevention and early detection of breast cancer. The Fund also provides breast screenings to women in need of those services. Patients who meet the eligibility requirements will be provided assistance to pay for early detection services at the DCH Cancer Center.
