TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Each week, RollTide.com will feature a member of the women's cross country team in which the athlete will answer a few questions asked by RollTide.com. This week, returning sophomore Sara Vaughn, a native of Tulsa, Okla., is featured.
RollTide.com - You competed for Team USA at the Junior World Cross Country Championships this past spring, how was that experience?
Vaughn - World's was one of the best experiences of my life! I loved being in foreign country with a unique culture and different ways of life. The girls on my team were amazing and I still stay in contact with all of them!
RollTide.com - If you were Coach Hasenbank, you would...
Vaughn - Probably look alongside the road for any sticks and rocks to play with while my team runs in the forest.
RollTide.com - Who is the person you would most like to meet?
Vaughn - I would love to meet any Olympic athlete because I think they would have a lot of advice to give to any aspiring athlete.
RollTide.com -What was it like to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships as a true freshman last year and how will that experience help you in years to come?
Vaughn - NCAA's was so much fun and I learned a great deal about how to compete at a high level! I really missed my team at the starting line though, so hopefully we will all make it there this year!
RollTide.com - What is your best non-athletic talent?
Vaughn - I love to cook, so hopefully I'm good at it!
RollTide.com - What is your dream job?
Vaughn - My dream job would be to live on a beach and conduct some sort of marine research.
RollTide.com - When did you know you wanted run at the Division I level?
Vaughn - I first knew I wanted to run for a D1 school when I started my junior year. I realized that I wanted to continue running and compete at a higher level than high school.
