TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Each week, RollTide.com will feature a member of the women's cross country team in which the athlete will answer a few questions asked by RollTide.com. This week, returning All-SEC performer junior Haley Moody, a native of Morristown, Tenn., is featured.
RollTide.com - The coaches have been very verbal about your performance in both practice and competition this season after coming off an injury last year, what was your mindset this summer that has helped you come back so much stronger?
Moody - Well my running had been really disappointing for more than a year, and since I've finally gotten healthy, I've just wanted to prove to myself and everyone else that my freshman year wasn't a fluke. I never wanted to be one of those one-hit-wonder girls who has an amazing season and then completely disappears, and until recently that's been me. I know can still run fast and be competitive and I've hated that I haven't been able to do that since really the fall of my freshman year, so I definitely wasn't short on motivation for training this summer.
RollTide.com - If you were the cross country coach, you would...
Moody - ..bring cupcakes to every morning practice.
RollTide.com - Who is the person you would most like to meet?
Moody - Adam Scott. I might faint.
RollTide.com -What goes through your mind in the last few minutes before a race?
Moody - Don't get outkicked. Otherwise, my mind is pretty blank. I don't think my brain really functions properly during a race.
RollTide.com - What is your favorite Tuscaloosa restaurant to eat at?
Moody - Kozy's. It's actually more of a date place (hence the name) but the food is amazing. The first time I went though, it was with Jordan and we didn't realize the obvious - that it was a romantic restaurant. The waiter actually asked if we wanted to pay separately or together.
RollTide.com - What is your dream job?
Moody - Something to do with traveling to interesting places and eating lots of yummy food, then writing about it. Like that woman on the Travel Channel, Samantha Brown, except a lot less goofy and annoying.
RollTide.com - What would you say your biggest personal achievement is thus far in your career?
Moody - That I made it through last year and still love running. It was definitely the most difficult thing I've ever done in my running career, coming back after such a difficult year, so I'm happy I'm finally on the other side of all that.
