TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama men's cross country team wrapped up its second and final week of preseason training last week and will get ready for its first meet of the season this weekend.
The men had participated in a 10-mile tempo run this past Saturday with which the coaching staff was pleased on the overall effort.
"Last week went very well," cross country coach Joe Walker said. "We are still just adjusting back to training in a group setting and will get a little bit of quality work in on Tuesday and Thursday. The group ran a 10-mile tempo in the forest Saturday morning and was a very solid effort as a whole."
This will be the final week of training without a competition as they open up their 2009 campaign on Saturday.
"I'm looking forward to the upcoming week," Walker said. "We will travel a very small squad to Memphis for the season opener and plan on opening up the full group in September at the Crimson Classic."
The Crimson Tide embarks on their 2009 campaign for a second straight SEC Championship on Sept. 5 at the Memphis Twilight Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.
