TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics coaching staff announced its weekly awards Sunday. Junior Kassi Price earned the Crimson Tide's Performance of the Week award while senior Ashley O'Neal was honored with the Attitude of the Week.
Price, who has been working through a wrist injury during the first part of the season, scored season high 9.9s on the uneven bars and floor exercise against Denver last Friday. She also scored a 9.85 in her first balance beam routine of the season.
"Kassi has had two great weeks of practice and it really showed in the meet Friday," Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. "She made a lot progress going into the Arkansas meet, but took a step back in the meet. She came back in the gym last week and continued to work hard to move forward and it paid off against Denver."
Senior Ashley O'Neal led off Alabama's floor exercise lineup with a 9.85 for the second week in a row Friday. Her return to the floor lineup has sparked the Tide to its two highest floor scores of the season.
"Ashley has gotten off to a great start on the floor these past two weeks," Patterson said. "She has displayed a great attitude both in practice and during the meets. She has worked with the coaching to staff to put together a floor routine that will allow her to be successful and has done so with that great `Ashley O' smile on her face."
The Crimson Tide returns to Southeastern Conference competition Friday, taking on No. 11 ranked LSU at 7:30 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, or online at RollTide.com.
