TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - When the Alabama Gymnastics team reported back to campus Saturday (Dec. 26) after the Christmas break, the Crimson Tide welcomed Becca Alexin who joined the team after graduating early from high school to start her freshman season.
"We're so excited to have Becca start her Crimson Tide career," Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. "We've watched her grow up and develop as a gymnast for a very long while and it's great to have her here with us."
Alexin competed for GymStars Gymnastics and was coached by her parents Donna and Gene Alexin who also coached former Tide standouts Lissy Smith and Robin Hawkins. She is a three-time TOPs National qualifier and a seven-time regional competitor.
The Cordova, Tenn. native won 10 regional medals during her club career. A recent graduate of Faith Heritage Christian Academy, Alexin made the A/B honor roll each of the last four years.
Alexin and her Tide teammates start the 2010 regular season Jan. 8 at Auburn, Ala.
