Soccer Has Four Named to All-South Region Scholar Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team had four representatives named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) All-South Regional Scholar team as announced by the organization. Senior Alex Butera (Orlando, Fla.) and juniors Grace Lawson (Elizabethtown, Tenn.), Victoria Frederick (Huntsville, Ala.) and Brooke Rogers (Cincinnati, Ohio) all garnered third team honors.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team.
Butera, a Communications major, played and started in 17 games in the center of the back four for head coach Todd Bramble. Butera tallied one assist on the season and helped the Tide record four shutouts on the year.
Lawson, also a Communications major, was a versatile player for the Tide as she found time at nearly every position. Lawson played most of her minutes on the outside of the back four. She ranked sixth on the team in minutes played and tallied 10 shots.
Frederick, a Biology major, was the leading scorer for the Tide. Frederick tallied 10 points on four goals and two assists. Her four goals led all Alabama scorers and her two assists ranked second on the team. She was third on the team with 23 shots and tallied one game-winner.
Rogers, a Finance major, ranked fourth on the team with four points on two goals. Her two goals were tied for third on the squad. She played in 18 games and started in 12 and was also named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team.
