TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Crimson Tide won its fourth title on the third and final day of the Christmas Diving Invitational held at the Alabama Aquatic Center this week, with sophomore Carrie Dragland winning her second events of the meet.
"I think we got some things accomplished and there are certainly some things we need to work on going forward," Alabama diving coach Pat Greenwell said. "We're working on what it takes to compete all three events over a three-day span, which is what we'll be doing when the championship season rolls around. From this point we just need to take the lessons we learned the last few days and move ahead."
Dragland scored 286.95 points to take first place off the platform. Dragland also won the one-meter board earlier in the meet. Auburn's Vennie Dantin was second with a total of 277.15 points. Alabama senior Elizabeth Hughes took fourth place with 246.85 points.
On the men's side of the slate senior Aaron Fleshner led the Tide off the platform with a second place finish. Auburn's Kelly Marx won the platform with 433.45 points. Earlier in the meet UA junior Adam Booher won both the one and three-meter boards.
The divers return to action on Jan. 3 at the Georgia Diving Invitational and the swimmers and divers combine to take on Kentucky at the Alabama Aquatic Center on Jan. 16.
