SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Junior guard Varisia Raffington was one of five players selected to the Courtyard by Marriott Holiday Beach Classic All-Tournament Team. The team was voted on by coaches of the four participating teams.
Raffington had one of the best scoring outings in Crimson Tide history Saturday against CSU Bakersfield where she led Alabama with 33 points shooting a staggering 14-of-22 from the floor. Her 33 points ranks her seventh all-time in the Alabama annals in points scored in a game. In addition, the Tallahassee native's 14 field goals are the fifth-most by a Tide player in program history. Raffington became the first player to score 30-plus points in a game for Alabama since Kate Mastin's 32 points on Feb. 22, 2007; however, Raffington's 33 were the most scored since the 2002 season.
She also scored in double-figures Sunday in the Tide's loss to Illinois finishing with 13 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Raffington ended the tournament with an average of 23 points, five rebounds and one assist per outing.
Raffington, and the rest of the Tide, returns to the court Friday, Dec. 4 when it heads to Montgomery to take on Alabama State at 6:00 p.m. (CST).
