TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's basketball team returns home for a Tuesday tilt with Southeastern Louisiana slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. (CST) in Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide brings a 2-2 record into the contest, while the Lady Lions come in at 1-3 on the year.
"This will be a quick turnaround from our last game, but in the long run that will help our team," said head coach Wendell Hudson. "Sometimes I wish we could play all of our games so close together. We look forward to playing in front of our home crowd again as this team continues to grows."
The last time Alabama hit the floor, it dropped a heartbreaking 69-67 overtime game to Belmont. Junior Tierney Jenkins led the Tide with 18 points and a career-high 27 rebounds. Her 27 rebounds broke the previous Alabama record for boards in a game that was set over 30 years ago. Senior Dedrea Magee and junior Varisia Raffington also posted double-digit points, with 16 and 12 respectively.
Jenkins is leading Alabama in points per game, averaging 13.5. She is also pulling down a team-high 15.5 rebounds per contest. Junior guard LaToya King is leading the Tide with 18 assists on the year.
The Lady Lions last contest was a 60-50 loss to Savannah State on Sunday night. Southeastern Louisiana was led by senior Quantae Thomas with 11 points and sophomore Kelli Jenkins with 10, her third straight double-figure scoring game.
Tuesday's meeting against the Lady Lions is the eighth time the teams have squared off. The Tide has won five out of seven in the series, including five straight victories since 1991. The last time the teams met was last season where Alabama delivered a 59-48 loss to the Lady Lions on their home court.
