TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy announced the signing of Jordan Patterson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) Thursday morning. Patterson comes to the Capstone from the American Christian Academy where she now plays for former Alabama softball manager A.J. Daugherty.
"We were so happy when Jordan accepted our offer to join our team," Murphy said. "She comes from a family with a national championship background and truly understands what it takes to compete at the highest levels. Jordan will add a great bat and an ability to play several positions."
Jordan, the daughter of Alabama NCAA gymnastics champion coaching tandem Sarah and David Patterson, brings a big bat and a solid glove behind the plate and in the infield. She was a 2009 selection to The Tuscaloosa News' Softball's Best team, batting .394 with an on-base percentage of .503 her junior season. As a catcher, she threw out 26 of 31 runners attempting to steal.
Patterson was named to the 2009 All-Star game and earned 2008 and 2009 Defensive Player of the Year honors. She also led ACA in home runs. Patterson plays for Kerri Foster on the Alabama Crusaders and helped her team to a Gold Nationals appearance and a 17th place finish.
Off the diamond Patterson was also a force on the volleyball court where she earned All-State selections last season. Patterson belongs to the National Honor Society, Beta Club and is the SGA secretary.
