TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 6 Alabama men's cross country team completed their 10th week of practice last week with a bye week. Cross country coach Joe Walker will be getting his squad ready for the SEC Championships this week.
"Last week went very well for us," Walker recalled. "We had a very good hill session and then followed that up with grass repeats on our home course. We had our best effort of the year as a group as far as average per repeat."
The championship portion of the season will begin this weekend with the SEC Championships. Two weeks later, the NCAA South Region will be run as the NCAA Championships will follow just nine days later.
"We now need to get everyone's body feeling fresh and their minds ready for a complete effort at the SEC Championships," Walker said. "This week is all about getting yourself ready for a weekend effort and then moving forward towards the NCAA regional and national meets."
Alabama will defend their conference title at the SEC Championships on Oct. 31 in Oxford, Miss.
