TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Each week, RollTide.com will feature a member of the men's cross country team in which the athlete will answer a few questions asked by RollTide.com. This week, returning sophomore Nathan Corder, a native of Pickerington, Ohio, is featured.
RollTide.com - How did it feel to be a member of the SEC Championship team last season and put Alabama back on the top of the conference for the first time since 1973?
Corder - It's an honor to be on the team at all, but being part of the team that took back the SEC is just something special. Out in a cow pasture in the middle of Mississippi, we toppled the dynasty Arkansas had created. It wasn't excitement that hit me, but instead I kind of just stood in awe. That is undoubtedly one of the greatest things I've ever experienced.
RollTide.com - If you were Coach Walker, you would...
Corder - ...drive even faster to the dirt road. The van has government plates, after all.
RollTide.com - What is your best non-athletic talent?
Corder - Apparently, I have a story for just about everything, which is a great asset to have to pass the time on distance runs.
RollTide.com - What is your favorite workout?
Corder - Repeat 400's with 40 seconds rest. I love speed work, and that workout in particular is just so fluid.
RollTide.com - When did you know you wanted run at the Division I level?
Corder - When I was selecting colleges I came in with the notion that I wanted the best education possible, and if it required me to run, I would. Whether the school was Division I or not never was an issue. However, what I can say is that at Alabama I've been given the best of both worlds- I get to compete at the highest level and I get an education from one of the best programs in the nation. As candid as possible, the point at which I knew I wanted to run Division I was the first time I said Roll Tide.
