TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - For the second consecutive season the Alabama softball team has sold out its season ticket allotment for the 2009 season. It marks the first time in NCAA history that a softball program has sold out its stadium in back-to-back seasons.
"Alabama softball fans continue to amaze Aly, Vann and I," head coach Patrick Murphy said. "This is the best place to coach and play softball in the nation. Allison West, our marketing person, had it right this fall when she put up a banner that read 'Best Softball Fans in the Country.' Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket. All of us truly appreciate the support."
1608 season tickets were sold for the highly ranked Crimson Tide. Fans who do not have season tickets will still be able to purchase general admission tickets for all home games at the walk-up ticket window.
Alabama will open the 2009 campaign at the South Alabama Kickoff Classic in Mobile, Ala. The Tide will open play against Northwestern State on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. Alabama will have its home opener on Friday, Feb. 13 against Notre Dame in the BAMA Bash.
