
Gymnastics Honors Brittany Magee and Ricki Lebegern

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics team has instituted a pair of weekly awards this season to honor outstanding achievements - the Performance of the Week and the Attitude of the Week. The honorees are chosen by the coaching staff. Senior Brittany Magee earned the first Performance of the Week honor while junior Ricki Lebegern was honored with the first Attitude of the Week.
Magee competed in the all-around for the first time in her Crimson Tide career Friday in Alabama's opening meet of the season at Auburn, leading Alabama with a 39.275 and taking second place in the overall. She also went in Alabama's competitive uneven bars lineup for the first time in her UA career, scoring a 9.775. Magee also led off the Tide's balance beam and floor exercise rotations with a meet-best 9.875 and a 9.775 respectively.
"Brittany had a tremendously consistent performance at Auburn, one that really helped set the tone for us," Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. "It was invaluable for us to have her leading off the balance beam and floor exercise and to get us off to such a great start. Her ability to adjust and do what the team needed her to do was awesome this weekend."
Lebegern finished third in the all-around at Auburn, scoring a 39.225. She was the Crimson Tide's top scorer on the floor exercise, posting a 9.875. She also led off Alabama's vault and uneven bars lineup.
"Of everyone on this team, Ricki came into the meet the most prepared, both mentally and physically, to get things started," Patterson said. "She is extremely unselfish and has a great competitive spirit that is infectious. She did a great job of encouraging everyone, especially those new to our team this year and worked hard to keep everyone upbeat and working toward our team goals."
Magee is ranked eighth in the nation in the all-around while Lebegern is 10th Magee is also sixth on the balance beam and 18th on the vault this week. Lebegern is ranked seventh on the floor exercise and 24th on the balance beam.
