David Named SEC Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southeastern Conference released its SEC Athlete of the Week honors today for the third week of the cross country season. Junior Tyson David added yet another honor while at Alabama being named Athlete of the Week.
David clocked a time of 24:22.63 over the course of 8,000 meters to win the 20th Annual Crimson Classic and led the Crimson Tide to the team title in his first Division 1 cross country race. Alabama won the meet with just 15 points, a perfect score, by sweeping the top five spots.
David currently holds the fastest 8k time in the SEC by 2 seconds over teammate Augustus Maiyo.
This mark ranks No. 12 all-time on the Harry Pritchett Cross Country course in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
