11 Questions With Victoria Frederick

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Rolltide.com and the Alabama women's soccer team present its new athlete for 11 questions. Select players and coaches will check in weekly on Rolltide.com and answer questions pertaining to things on and off the field. The fifth edition features sophomore forward Victoria Frederick.
Rolltide.com: Coming in as a freshman last year how were you able to lead the team in scoring?
Frederick: I think just by working as hard as I could in every game along with the help of my teammates made it possible for me to create scoring opportunities.
Rolltide.com: Your speed is one of your best weapons on the field ... how do you use your speed on the field?
Frederick: It comes in pretty handy when you're one on one with a defender and you can push the ball past them and just run!
Rolltide.com: The team has won five in a row at home without allowing a goal ... why is the team so successful at its home field?
Frederick: The feeling you get when you play on your home field with all your friends and family watching definitely gives you an edge on your competition. Also, we play on our field every day so we know every inch of it.
Rolltide.com: Would you rather score on a diving header or on a bicycle kick and why?
Frederick: Definitely a bicycle kick because it just looks so awesome, and it's a classic trick. Hopefully I can do one before my soccer career is over haha.
Rolltide.com: How has the new coaching staff been and how is the transition?
Frederick: The new coaching staff has been great. Everyone has transitioned really well with the change, because everything the coaches have planned for us is so well thought out. They've brought so many new ideas to our program that continually make us better.
Rolltide.com: Do you have a favorite professional soccer team and why?
Frederick: I can't say I have a favorite soccer team, but I do enjoy watching teams like Arsenal and Manchester United because they are so good and make everything look so easy.
Rolltide.com: If you could play another sport in college what would it be?
Frederick: I would have to say track and field. I was on the track and field team in middle school and I always loved going to meets and competing individually and in relays.
Rolltide.com: What is on your IPOD right now?
Frederick: Actually my IPOD is dead right now but I listen to all kinds of music EXCEPT country..nooo thank you!
Rolltide.com: What is your favorite pregame meal?
Frederick: I really like Jason's Deli before a game because I can just get a sandwich and some fruit and that's all I really need.
Rolltide.com: When and why did you start playing the game of soccer?
Frederick: I started playing soccer when I was about four. I was in almost every sport imaginable when I was little and soccer just ended up being my favorite as I grew up.
Rolltide.com: Why did you choose to go to the University of Alabama?
Frederick: I chose the University of Alabama because the athletic program and facilities are amazing, and I loved the campus and overall atmosphere so I knew I'd be happy here!
