TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama men's cross country coach Joe Walker led the Crimson Tide through their fourth week of practice and is getting the team ready for the home meet. The squad will start their first speed workouts this week.
"Last week we had a good solid week of work," Walker said. "We were able to fit in a good hill session on Tuesday doing some hill repeats on the grass and followed that up with a really good tempo run out at the Talladega National Forest and finished the week up with a long run on the weekend."
The team will host the 20th Annual Crimson Classic this weekend at the Harry Pritchett Course. Walker will put the team through its first really tough week in order to see where the team's fitness is at for this part of the year.
"This week we will work pretty hard early in the week and then back off as we get closer to the race with an idea of being fresh and ready on Saturday," Walker said. "We will do our first session of repeats this week on the grass and that will be a good hard session for the guys."
The Crimson Tide is hosting the 20th Annual Crimson Classic on Sept.20 at the Harry Pritchett Course. The men will toe the line at 8:45 a.m.
