
All Three Freshmen Gymnast Earn SEC Academic Honor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics team saw all three of its rookies earned Southeastern Conference Freshman Academic Honor Roll honors it was announced by the league office today.
Kayla Hoffman, Jennifer Iovino and Megan Mashburn all earned the honor which requires an athlete to be on scholarship or a letterwinner and earn a 3.0 grade point average or better as a rookie.
"It takes a tremendous amount of balance to succeed in both the classroom and the gym, as well as a lot of hard work," head coach Sarah Patterson said. "This award is indicative of the high level of success our ladies enjoyed this year and I'm very proud of their accomplishments."
Overall, The University of Alabama ranked third in the SEC with 56 student-athletes earning the honor. The three gymnastics freshmen joined the 10 upperclassmen who earned SEC Academic Honor Roll Honors during the spring. As a team, the Crimson Tide earned a 3.62 GPA in the spring which followed a 3.515 average last fall.
