
Gymnasts Enjoy another Excellent Semester in the Classroom

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Five Alabama Gymnasts earned a 3.9 or better grade point average for the spring semester including three who earned perfect 4.0s. As a team, the Crimson Tide earned a 3.62 GPA in the spring which followed a 3.515 average last fall.
"To earn a team GPA of 3.62 is an extraordinary accomplishment, and it makes us very proud," Alabama head coach Sarah Patterson said. "Alabama Gymnastics enjoys an outstanding academic standing and this year's team certainly built on that reputation, helping take it to new heights."
The Tide's academic success comes on the heels of its 26th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, 24th top-6 national finish and 23rd NCAA Regional Championship.
Sophomore All-American Kassi Price, junior Amanda Montgomery and freshman Jennifer Iovino all earned 4.0s this spring while junior All-American Brittany Magee and sophomore All-American Casey Overton earned matching 3.915 GPAs.
Senior Kaitlin White and junior Ashley O'Neal led the five gymnasts who earned between a 3.5 and a 3.9 GPA with both women earning a 3.87 for the spring semester. Freshman All-American Kayla Hoffman, sophomore and three-time SEC Champion Ricki Lebegern along with junior Cassie Martin all earned better than a 3.5 this semester.
Price, Montgomery and Iovino all earned President's List Honors with their perfect marks while Magee, Overton, White, Hoffman, Lebegern, Martin and O'Neal were all named the Dean's List after earning a 3.5 or better.
In addition to the 10 Tide gymnasts that earned above a 3.5, All-American sophomore Morgan Dennis, sophomore Alyssa Chapman and freshman Megan Mashburn all earned better than a 3.2 GPA, led by Mashburn's 3.44 GPA.
A total of 10 UA gymnasts hold career GPAs of 3.5 or better, including Price's unblemished 4.0 mark.
