
Gymnastics Celebrates 2008 Season with Year-End Banquet

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics Team celebrated the 2008 season as well as coaches Sarah and David Patterson's 30th year at the Captstone with its annual awards banquet hosted by The Medalist Club, the Crimson Tide's booster organization.
The event was held Saturday night at "The Zone" located in Bryant-Denny Stadium with more then 300 in attendance.
In addition to honoring the Pattersons for their 30 years coaching Alabama, the Tide also celebrated its 26th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, 24th national top-six finish and 23rd NCAA Regional title as well as its back-to-back sellouts of Coleman Coliseum this season.
Individually, the Tide's three captains, senior Kaitlin White, junior Amanda Montgomery and sophomore Morgan Dennis were recognized.
Dennis was also honored for earning three All-American honors, three Southeastern and three NCAA South Central Regional Championship honors. Fellow sophomore Ricki Lebegern was honored as a two-time SEC Champion while sophomore Casey Overton was recognized for earning All-American honors and an SEC title. Dennis, Lebegern and Overton were all named first team All-SEC.
Kassi Price earned All-American honors during her sophomore season as well as winning two NCAA Regional titles. She was also a finalist for the SEC Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and was named second team All-SEC. Freshman Kayla Hoffman earned All-American honors and was named to the inaugural SEC All-Freshman team as well as earning second team All-SEC.
Fern Hampton, the team's academic advisor, was presented with the David Dutton Award which is given, when warranted, to those who go above and beyond in the service of Alabama Gymnastics.
Freshman Jennifer Iovino, who has been sidelined this season with a heart ailment was presented with the Lewis Each Courage Award and accepted the honor from Jean and Winston Each. The Pat Huet President's award was presented to Lance Hocutt and Randy Howell.
Outgoing Medalist Club president Jim Davis was praised for his leadership over the past year while incoming president Pamela Crowe encouraged everyone to find a way to become more involved with the organization.
