
Tide Softball to Host Missouri in NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team will face Missouri in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional next weekend at the Alabama Softball Complex.
The NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional will get underway on Friday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. The super regional continues with game two at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, with game three, if necessary, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The Tuscaloosa Super Regional will not be televised.
The Crimson Tide (54-6) is the No. 3 national seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament and breezed through the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional with a win over Chattanooga and two wins against Jacksonville State over the weekend.
Missouri captured the NCAA Iowa City Regional on Sunday and will travel to Tuscaloosa next weekend for a best-of-three super regional for a trip to the 2008 NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla., at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
Alabama is making its fourth straight NCAA Super Regional appearance and will host for the second time. The Tide advanced to the Women's College World Series in 2006 out of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
The Crimson Tide is 4-2 in NCAA Super Regional play with a two-game sweep of Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, in 2005, and a sweep of Stanford in Tuscaloosa in 2006. UA was swept by Washington in Seattle in 2007.
Alabama is in search of its fifth trip to the NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City after advancing in 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006 under the guidance of head coach Patrick Murphy.
The Tigers (47-15) were the No. 2 seed at the NCAA Iowa City Regional and knocked off host Iowa twice along with No. 14-seed Long Beach State to advance to super regional action. Missouri is making is first super regional appearance after winning its first NCAA Regional title in 14 years.
