
Women's Golf Completes Day 1 at the SEC Championship

LOUDON, Tenn. - The Alabama women's golf team completed day one at the SEC Championship with a 307 (+19) Friday at the tough Tennessee National Golf Club. After the day, the Tide currently sits in fifth place at the Greg Norman designed par-72 6,310-yard course.
Arkansas and Florida lead the field after the first round, each shooting a team score of 297 (+9). Stacy Lewis of Arkansas currently paces the championship with a first round score of 69 (-3).
Junior Kathleen Ekey led the Tide with a 75 (+3). Ekey is currently in 14th place after hitting par on all the holes on the front nine. The Wadsworth, Ohio, native sank her lone birdie on the par-4, 15th.
In her first SEC Championship, freshman Camilla Lennarth followed with a 76 (+4) to currently rank 18th in the field. Lennarth birdied the par-3, third and recorded 12 pars on the day.
Fellow freshman Courtney Harter and senior Sarah Strum each turned in a score of 78 (+6). Harter hit back-to-back birdies on seven and eight while Sturm was in the red on 13. The duo is tied for 26th.
Rounding out the Tide was sophomore Rhea Nair with an 83 (+11). Nair birdied the par-5 fourth and recorded eight pars in the first round.
Alabama will be paired with Georgia and Vanderbilt to begin round two tomorrow. The first tee time is set for 11:00 a.m. EST. Live scoring can be accessed on golfstat.com.
