
Five Alabama Gymnasts Earn All-SEC Honors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Five Alabama gymnasts earned Southeastern Conference Championship honors it was announced today by the league office.
Sophomores Morgan Dennis, Ricki Lebegern and Casey Overton all earned first team All-SEC honors while sophomore Kassi Price and freshman Kayla Hoffman took home second team All-SEC accolades. Hoffman was also named to the inaugural Freshman All-SEC team.
"To have so many of our ladies honored is indicative of what a great team performance we had at the SEC Championships," head coach Sarah Patterson said. "Those five ladies made up 18 of our 24 routines at the championships, but we had great effort and results from everyone on our team. It was a great meet for us, one that showed tremendous heart by our ladies."
Dennis won three titles at the SEC Championships held in Duluth, Ga. Saturday, and was second in the all-around with a career-high 39.575. She scored 9.95 to win the vault and floor exercise and scored a career-best 9.9 to win the balance beam.
Lebegern shared top honors with Dennis on the vault and beam. Overton also took home a share of the beam title. For Lebegern, it was her second SEC beam championship and she used a career-best score to earn a share of the vault. Overton also produced a career-best score to share in the beam title.
Price was 10th in the all-around and fourth on the uneven bars. Hoffman was sixth on the vault and fifth on the floor exercise. She was the league's top freshman on both those events.
Alabama's six individual SEC titles are the most by a single school since 1998 and ties for the third most in league history.
