
Tide Wins Season Opener, 8-1

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The No. 4 University of Alabama softball team got its 2008 season off to a successful start with an 8-1 decision over instate rival South Alabama. The game was the third of four scheduled games in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa this weekend.
Chrissy Owens earned the win on the mound for the Tide after throwing a complete-game four-hitter. Owens had a perfect game through three innings and finished with nine strikeouts and four walks.
Charlotte Morgan was the star of the Alabama lineup, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Lauren Parker was 2-of-3 with a home run and an RBI, her first of the season in both categories. Jordan Praytor scored two runs for the Tide.
Alabama faces Purdue in the fourth and final game of the Hampton Inn Bama Bash. More details on the Tide’s season-opening weekend will follow the UA-Purdue contest.
