
Men?s Tennis Tandem Lands in National Rankings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The University of Alabama men's tennis team's top doubles tandem of Daniel Buikema and Mathieu Thibaudeau landed at No. 37 in the national rankings, announced the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) earlier this week.
So far this year, the Tide tandem has racked up a 16-8 overall record and is 9-1 in dual matches from the No. 1 position. The latest win came over the 55th ranked pair of Clancy and Luke Shields from Boise State University. Buikema and Thibaudeau outlasted the Boise State tandem 7-5 in the tiebreaker to earn the win in the Tide's third match of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Last year, the Alabama pair made its debut in the ITA rankings at No. 35 on February 21. The duo peaked at No. 23 on April 30, 2007 and ended the 2007 season ranked No. 26.
The 20th ranked Crimson Tide is back in action at home Sunday, Feb. 24 to face the No. 56 Indiana Hoosiers. The match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the UA Varsity Courts across the street from the Student Recreation Center on the University of Alabama campus.
