Women's Track Heads to Tyson Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama women's track and field team will compete in the Tyson Invitational, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Field and running events will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
A large contingency of SEC schools will be present at the Tyson Invitational. Participating teams include: Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, Stanford and Texas, among others, will be travelling to Fayetteville.
Alabama came off a two week layoff with an impressive showing at the Adidas Classic in Lincoln, Neb. Sophomore Chelsea Taylor won two events, including the high jump with a NCAA automatic mark of 6-00.75 and also the 200 meters in a time of 24.23 Sophomore Kimberley Laing finished the 60 meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional time of 8.43. Three Alabama women ran sub five-minute miles this weekend, senior Julia Hicks, 4:56.37, junior Betty Rotich, 4:57.60, and freshman Haley Moody, 4:59.47.
Senior Trish Bartholomew continued her brilliance in the indoor season crossing the line in a personal best and NCAA provisional time of 53.87 in the 400m. Junior Lynda Cooper placed third with a vault of 11-06.25 in the pole vault.
Alabama will take a week off after the meet to prepare for the SEC Championships. The meet is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 29 in Fayetteville, Ark.
