
Freshmen Duo Earn All-SEC Accolades

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The SEC Cross Country Championships were run Monday morning on the Mississippi State Cross Country Course in Starkville, Miss. The Alabama women's team competed on the 6,000 meter course in the meet hosted by Mississippi State University.
Freshmen Sara Vaughn and Kelsey Johnson continued to lead the Crimson Tide as they have in every meet thus far in the season. Alabama finished seventh of 12 teams in the meet.
Vaughn was the first of the two to cross the finish line in 10th place, but Johnson was not far behind in 11th as they turned in the third and fourth fastest times in school history of 20:59.06 and 21:01.50, respectively.
The Tide duo earned All-SEC and All-SEC Freshman honors. Vaughn and Johnson were the second and third freshmen in the field to finish the race.
Vaughn and Johnson are the first two female athletes to earn All-SEC honors in the same meet since Ashley LaBudde and Aly Mills in 2000.
The top seven freshmen are selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team while the top 14 athletes overall are selected to the All-SEC Team.
