TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head women's cross country coach Randy Hasenbank led the Crimson Tide through their 12th week of practice and a weekend of no competition. Last week, the squad finished seventh at the SEC Championships, marking their highest finish since 2000.
The team was a bit sore after last week's championship meet so they took the week to recover and kept things light. The women were able to put in some quality runs towards the end of the week.
"The week off was beneficial because we raced on Monday," Hasenbank said. "The ladies competed on a course that had a couple of very aggressive downhill runs that created some soreness. Therefore, the off week helped us recover."
Alabama will have a quality workout session on Tuesday before leaving on Thursday for the NCAA South Regional.
"We need to focus on putting together a solid team effort," Hasenbank said. "We have not been in the top 10 at this meet in a while. I know the team is motivated to do so."
The Crimson Tide is aiming for a top 10 team finish, something they have not accomplished since 2000 when they finished 10th. Alabama is currently ranked No. 7 in the region. The meet is being hosted by The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. on Nov. 15.
The women's 6,000 meter race is scheduled for 9 a.m. CT.
