
Soccer Falls in Regular Season Finale 4-0

AUBURN, Ala. - The Alabama soccer team concluded its regular season slate with a 4-0 loss to rival Auburn Friday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The Tigers used two goals in each half to secure the victory. After the day, the Crimson Tide move to 9-8-2 overall and 4-6-1 in Southeastern Conference play while the Tigers improve to 11-7-2 overall and 7-3-1 in league action.
Auburn scored 22 minutes into the contest when Jenni Prescott tallied her second goal of the season. Prescott took a Chelsea Yauch pass and found the net from 40 yards out off a deflection to give Auburn the early 1-0 advantage.
The Tigers increased its first half lead to 2-0 when Kara Kasten netted her sixth goal of the season. Kasten scored off a Becca Howells pass from 25-yards out. Auburn opened the second half with a goal in the 54th minute on a one-on-one when Stephanie Fransoso scored on a Gabbi Rivera pass.
In the 75th minute Howell was on the scoring end when she took a Rivera pass and found the net on a one-touch from 18-yards out to secure the 4-0 victory. Despite the score Alabama out-shot its rival 16-15 and took an 8-5 shot advantage in the second half. Kelsey King paced the Tide with six shots while Rosaly Petriello and Victoria Frederick followed with two shots.
Kara Gudmens was tagged with the loss after making eight saves. Allison Whitworth earned the win by making eight saves en route to the shutout.
Alabama will now wait for the official SEC standings to see if it will prolong its season. Arkansas fell to LSU which means the Tide is unofficially in the eighth and final spot for Orange Beach. The SEC Tournament will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
