TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Rolltide.com and the Alabama women's cross country team have started a new weekly segment called Seven Questions. Select players and coaches will check in weekly on Rolltide.com and answer questions pertaining to things on and off the field. The ninth edition features freshman Andrea Torske.
Rolltide.com: When and why did you start running?
Andrea Torske: I started running in ninth grade. I had always liked runnning, in general, not as a sport. I just decided to join the cross-country team and see if I liked it and if I was any good at running.
Rolltide.com: Why did you choose to come to The University of Alabama?
Torske: The University has a good engineering program and I really liked the team and the campus.
Rolltide.com: What are your personal goals and what are the team goals for this year and career?
Torske: My personal goal is just to run well, I have never run a 6K before so I don't know what time to work towards. The team goals are to go as far as we can this year and improve our standings from last year.
Rolltide.com: Do you have a pre-race ritual?
Torske: No, not really, I just like to have enough time to get properly warmed up and ready to go.
Rolltide.com: What's your favorite race and why?
Torske: My favorite race is the meet at Rockwall. The course is interesting, it is a bit hilly, and goes through different types of terrain, it is a fun course to run.
Rolltide.com: Other than running, what Olympic sport would you want to compete in and why?
Torske: I would like to compete in skiing. I have been skiing several times and love it.
Rolltide.com: You're from Texas, why come all the way to Alabama?
Torske: I really wanted to go to a school outside of Texas so I could see a different area of the country. When I came on my official visit I really liked Coach Hasenbank and the team, so I decided to come to Alabama.
