TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama men's cross country coach Joe Walker led the No. 5 nationally ranked Crimson Tide through their 10th week of practice and a weekend off from competition. The squad took a week off in preparation for the SEC Championships being held on Nov. 3.
The men were able to keep their mileage up for one more week during the off week and get a god workout in towards the end of the week.
"It was good to have a weekend off going into SEC," Walker said. "Most of our specific preparation is done. However, we will get one more solid effort in early this week and then get ready to go next Monday."
The team is the favorite heading into the SEC Championships but is well aware that Arkansas will be trying to keep their streak of 17 straight conference championships alive.
"We are well aware of the fact that Auburn, Arkansas and Florida are all coming in with something to prove," Walker said. "We feel like we can only take care of ourselves and our approach and then let race day take care of itself."
The Tide will travel to Starkville, Miss. on Nov. 3 in an attempt to dislodge Arkansas as the SEC powerhouse. Alabama has not won the title since 1973 when they did so with 41 points.
