Men's Tennis Duo Advances to ITA Regional Quarterfinals

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Ricky Doverspike and Andrew Felsenthal won a trio of matches Thursday to cruise on to the doubles quarterfinals at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships held at the Boone Tennis Center.
"Andrew and Ricky had a strong day and registered three solid wins," said head coach Billy Pate. "I was very pleased with their energy and focus. Tomorrow will be another challenging day with more opportunities to gain experience and improve."
Doverspike and Felsenthal opened up with Kentucky's own Alex Musalek and Eric Quigley where the Crimson Tide edged the Wildcats 9-7. In the round of 32, Doverspike and Felsenthal took the 8-5 advantage over LSU's Ryan Lissner and Cody Loup and finished the day with another 8-5 win over David Rosenfeld and David Simon of Miami (Fla.). Doverspike and Felsenthal will meet up with Tennessee's Boris Conkic and Matteo Fago Friday at 9:00 a.m. (CST) for the quarterfinal matchup.
Trey Walston, along with Doverspike and Felsenthal, will begin singles play Friday as well beginning with the round of 128. Walston is scheduled to play Vanderbilt's Bryant Salcedo, while Doverspike will match up with Romain Deridder of South Florida and Felsenthal with LSU's Mark Bowtell. Both Walston and Felsenthal's matches are slated for 2:30 p.m. (CST), but Doverspike's start time is yet to be determined.
The final round of action played on Friday will be the singles round of 64. Saturday, only singles matches will be played with the round of 32 and round of 16 scheduled, along with two rounds of singles consolation. On Sunday, doubles semifinals, singles quarterfinals and two rounds of consolation will be played. The tournament will conclude Monday with the singles semifinals and finals as well as the doubles finals. Times are all to be determined.
