TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The 2008 Alabama Gymnastics season gets underway this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. when the No. 6 ranked Crimson Tide facing No. 23 Illinois in its first home meet of the year.
And for the new season the University of Alabama has made getting to the meet easier than ever before.
The new Soccer lot, located off University Boulevard, is now available for Coleman Coliseum athletic event parking. For convenience sake, starting one hour before the meet starts, the Crimson Ride transit system will run a direct route that will transport fans from the Soccer Lot to the front of Coleman Coliseum free of charge.
After the meet, the buses will pick up directly in front of the coliseum near the steps. Once again, this service is FREE of charge for all fans. Alabama fans are encouraged to use the Crimson Ride to Coleman Coliseum; however, if fans decide to walk from the Soccer lot, they are asked to remember to use the designated sidewalks and crosswalks.
There is a designated pedestrian pathway that will lead everyone safely to and from the intersection of Paul W. Bryant Drive and 2nd Avenue to Coleman Coliseum. The designated pedestrian pathway from 2nd Avenue leads to a sidewalk and crosswalk that allow safe crossing to Coleman Coliseum. There will also be plenty of signage and attendants to assist fans.
For Gymnastics meets, the entire Coleman Coliseum parking lot is reserved and handicapped parking, requiring permits to enter and park. The reserved area includes all parking surrounding Coleman Coliseum and certain parking areas surrounding the UA Football Athletic Facility. Parking permits will be checked on Bryant Drive, prior to entering the Coleman Coliseum parking lot.
General public parking is also available in areas located north and west of Coleman Coliseum. In addition to the Soccer parking lot, the Moody Music parking lot, the Alumni Hall parking lot, the surface lot located at the southwest corner of Paul W. Bryant Drive and Hackberry Lane, UA Aquatic center south lot, Baptist Student Union parking lot and the Hayden Harris parking lot are available for meet parking.
Fans are asked to observe all posted parking regulations. Automobiles are allowed to park in any non-reserved and legal parking space on campus after 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Vehicle parking is NOT allowed on sidewalks or yellow curbs. Any vehicle found violating this guideline will be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking is NOT allowed in the grass areas around the Moody Music Building.
Gymnastics tickets, season and single meet, are on sale now through the Alabama Ticket Office, located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum (205.348.2262) and online at RollTide.com.
