
Crimson Tide Golfers to Compete in UK Wildcat Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The women's golf team will head to Lexington, Ky., on Saturday to compete in the annual UK Wildcat Invitational. The three-day tournament is being held at the University Club Big Blue Course.
Alabama will face stiff competition from some of the best teams in the country. Set to appear are Arkansas, Central Florida, No. 5 Florida, Indiana State, Illinois, Kentucky, Marshall, Memphis, Miami, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Richmond and South Florida.
This is the first time Alabama will compete in the UK Wildcat Invitational.
Memphis won the 2006 Wildcat Invitational with a score of 312-319-298??929, +65. The 2006 medalists from last year include Amanda Mathis, Mississippi State (75-73-77??225, +9); Adrienne White, Louisville (78-74-74??226, +10); Lauren Doughtie, NC State (79-77-70??226, +10).
The Crimson Tide is coming off a third-place finish in the Cougar Classic on the Yeamans Hall Golf Course in Charleston, S.C. Kathleen Ekey gave a solid performance in her first tournament appearance for the Tide. She led the team with a 217 followed by Helena Blomburg and Sarah Sturm, who both finished with a solid 221. The Tide finished with rounds of 286, one off the school record, 298 and 291 to earn a top-five placing in the first tournament of the 2007-08 season.
Alabama comes into the tournament with a regular-season streak of four top-five finishes. The Tide has finished in the top five in five of its last seven outings, dating back to October of 2006.
