TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- As Alabama works toward the end of the regular season, junior Kaitlin White is enjoying a break-out season that has seen her become a regular on three events and make a definite impact on the Tide’s fortunes.
“It’s been great for me personally, getting to compete more, getting to compete in every meet,” White said. “It feels really good, to finally be getting where I want to be in the gym, to be able to contribute this way.”
White has turned in career best scores on the uneven bars and the floor exercise, going 9.875 on both events. As much as White has enjoyed making her own contributions, she has also loved helping a very young Crimson Tide team grow and develop.
“It’s been a lot of fun watching our team grow and improve,” White said. “We have worked through so many highs and lows already; I’m really looking forward to seeing where we end up.”
While she is looking forward to seeing what the end of the season brings for the Tide, she already has many great memories from this season.
“Auburn was my favorite meet so far, with the sold out crowd all wearing pink for breast cancer awareness,” White said. “That was the meet where we had the most excitement.”
White and her teammates are also looking forward to the excitement of the home crowd once the post season arrives and Alabama hosts the NCAA Central Region Championships.
“Last year we had to travel across the country to California for regionals,” White said. “And even there we had the loudest fans in the stands, but I am really looking forward to being at home for that meet and competing in front of the best fans in the world and then moving on to nationals.”
