TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics team leapfrogged over Pac-10 power Stanford to retake the No. 3 spot in the latest national rankings.
The Crimson Tide used a strong meet against UCLA last weekend to boost its regional qualifying score (RQS) to 196.635, which triggered the move up after three weeks at No. 4.
Georgia unseated Florida for the No. 1 spot, ending the Gators six-week rein at No. 1. The Gators are second and Stanford dropped to fourth with Nebraska coming in at fifth. UCLA is sixth, Utah seventh and LSU eighth. Oklahoma and Oregon State round out the top-10 at ninth and 10th respectively.
As a team, Alabama is ranked third on both the floor exercise and vault, sixth on the uneven bars and 15th on the balance beam.
Individually, freshman Ricki Lebegern jumped into the all-around rankings at No. 19 while junior Terin Humphrey is 24th.
Freshman Morgan Dennis is sixth on the vault. Dennis also stands at 12th on the floor exercise while Lebegern is 24th. Humphrey is seventh on the uneven bars while freshman Kassi Price is 23rd.
Alabama closes out its regular season with its first road trip in month when it travels to Auburn for its second meeting of the year with the Tigers Friday at 7 p.m. in Beard-Eaves Coliseum.
