TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The No. 31 Alabama men's tennis team hosts No. 23 Clemson Friday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. This weekend is the fourth consecutive home weekend for the Tide before heading on the road for the next two weekends.
"We are very excited to host an outstanding Clemson team here on Friday," said head coach Billy Pate. "Over the course of the last 32 years, head coach Chuck Kriese has built one of the finest traditions in college tennis and he is one of the best tennis coaches in the world. Much like our squad, his team is deep and plays hard and we expect a very evenly-matched battle that will go down to the wire. It will be a great early season test for our players."
Alabama, 4-1, heads into the match after earning two wins last weekend against No. 73 Furman and Winthrop. The Tide saw two different lineups over the weekend, giving head coach Billy Pate a chance to look at different options before conference play begins on March 2.
No. 23 Clemson lost last weekend to top ranked Georgia, 7-0, stunting an eight-match winning streak by the Tigers. No. 46 Clement Reix, a freshman from Amiens, France, will look to play singles at the No. 1 spot this weekend.
The Clemson/Samford match that was scheduled for 9 a.m. will now be played at Samford at 7 p.m. The Alabama/Clemson match was moved up an hour from noon to 11 a.m. to accommodate Clemson's travel arrangements. Live stats will be made available through www.ROLLTIDE.com.
