
Jenkins Earns SEC Freshman of the Week Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ?? Following a career week that included three-straight Crimson Tide victories, freshman forward Tierney Jenkins was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office. The honor is a first for the Mt. Juliet, Tenn. native and the first for a Tide player this season.
On the week, Jenkins averaged 21.3 points per game and grabbed 12.3 rebounds. The newcomer shot 48 percent over the course of the three games and tallied two double-doubles over that span.
Jenkins led the Tide to an overtime victory against Hampton with a career-best 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting. Jenkins grabbed nine boards and was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in a career-high 38 minutes.
The 6-0 forward began the week with a 16 point, 15 rebound out-burst in the win over Alabama A&M. The 15 rebounds is also a career-high for the newcomer.
Against Jacksonville State, Jenkins tallied her second double-double on the week. Jenkins poured in 19 points and tallied a game-high 13 rebounds in the win.
On the season, Jenkins paces the Tide with 12.8 points per game and four double-doubles. The newcomer is second on the squad with 7.8 rebounds per contest. Her 12.8 points and 7.8 rebounds lead all SEC freshmen.
Alabama will return to the court for its fourth-straight home contest. The Tide will host East Tennessee State on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 6:00 p.m. from Coleman Coliseum.
