TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The Alabama Swimming and Diving teams returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. in a tri-meet against Delta State and Centenary in Cleveland, Miss. at the DSU Aquatic Center.
“This is another opportunity for us to get up and race and we don’t have to travel to far and we’ll compete in a nice facility,” Alabama head coach Eric McIlquham said. “We’ll be able to go up and back on the same day.”
The Tide has enjoyed tremendous success in Cleveland, holding nearly a dozen Aquatic Center records and while Delta State is a frequent Tide opponent, Saturday marks the first time Alabama will face Centenary.
For Alabama’s men, it will be the third meet of the season after opening on the road at the Georgia Tech Quad meet before opening the home and Southeastern Conference season last weekend against LSU. Saturday will be the women’s fourth out of the season, having competed at the SMU Classic in addition to the Georgia Tech Quad and LSU/Vanderbilt tri-meets.
The Tide men are led by sophomore All-American diver Aaron Fleshner, who has already earned a pair of SEC Diver the Week honors while the women are led by senior Erin Sparks and sophomore Agustina de Giovanni, who won three indiviudal events each last weekend against the Tigers and the Commodores.
