
Freshman Haley Moody earns All-SEC at SEC Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. ?? University of Alabama freshman Haley Moody earned All-SEC with her 13th place finish at the Southeastern Conference Championships today at the Kentucky Horse Park on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
"This was a fantastic run for Haley today," cross country coach Randy Hasenbank said. "She was not far from the leaders and ran with the front pack all race. There are some great runners in this conference and she competed with the best of them today."
Moody has been the Tide's top finisher in every race this season and today was no exception with her time of 21:22.09 over the 6k course. Her finish today earns her second team All-SEC and first team All-Freshman SEC.
Also competing for the Tide today was senior Farrah Stewart who turned in a time of 23:48 and sophomore Ashley Ard ran 24:07.
Three additional Tide freshman ran in their first SEC Championships,Meghan Hawkins was the Tide's fourth finisher with a time of 24:22 Megan Williams turned in a time of 24:27 and Kelsie Slater ran a 24:51. They were followed by sophomore Rue Chitwood with a time of 24:52.
"We are still a young squad that was in a tough position today with injuries and inexperience. I am proud of the way the team fought today and we have to get stronger for next season," Hasenbank added.
As a team the Tide finished 10th overall.
Alabama will have a week off before competing at the NCAA South Regional in two weeks.
